Oakfield Farm has a rich history dating back to the turn of the centaury. A freshwater spring which still flows behind the Chapel made this a welcome stop over for folk travelling by coach en route from Potchefstroom to Pretoria. However it was the enormous oak tree which made Oakfield famous. This huge oak tree, the largest in the Transvaal for more than 100 years, gave Oakfield Farm its name. Sadly the oak was felled by lightening in 1986. Much of the wood was used for furniture but the massive stump can still be seen at the Oakfield pavilion.

Oakfield is now a family owned business. It has often been said that Oakfield Farm has a wonderful magic and it was this that encouraged us to open the gardens for private and exclusive weddings. These are now regarded as one of the most beautiful South Africa and are the first choice of top wedding photographers.

From the start it has been our objective to leave no stone unturned in our quest to make Oakfield a venue without equal. Most of the old buildings have been restored and modernised to be the perfect setting in terms of atmosphere and convenience. After leading for 18 years it should come as no surprise that Oakfield is regarded as the leader of creativity and innovation.
